This Privacy Policy explains how Petopia Pet Care Assistant ("Petopia", "we", "us") handles information when you use the Petopia mobile app. The current app does not provide Petopia user accounts or cloud sync. Pet profiles and care records are primarily stored on your device.
The app may contact service providers for analytics, diagnostics, subscriptions, and currency exchange-rate data, as described below. This policy applies to information handled by the app and those integrations.
Depending on the features you use, Petopia may store on your device:
Petopia does not ask you to create an account or enter an email address or password to use these features. If you email us, we will receive the information you choose to include in that message.
Depending on the app build, Petopia may use Aptabase for product analytics and Sentry for error, crash, and performance diagnostics. These services may receive event names and related properties that describe app activity, such as feature/source labels, pet or record types, expense categories, currency codes, and subscription or notification activity. They may also receive technical information such as app version, operating system, device information, network address, and event or session identifiers, depending on provider configuration. Aptabase derives an approximate country and region from the IP address of each request; the IP address itself is not stored. Sentry may also attach a random installation identifier generated by the SDK. This identifier resets when the App is reinstalled and is not an advertising identifier.
The current app version does not include an in-app setting to turn off these analytics or diagnostics when they are enabled in a build. We do not use these events to serve targeted advertising or to track you across other apps or websites. This notice does not replace any consent that may be required by law or platform rules.
Pet profiles, photos, health records, schedules, events, expenses, and app settings are stored in the app's local database and local app storage on your device. Petopia does not upload these records to a Petopia account or Petopia cloud server, and the current app does not synchronize them between devices.
Your device operating system may include app data in device backups, depending on your device and backup settings. Those backups are governed by the platform provider's settings and policies.
Local data security also depends on your device, operating system, passcode, and backup settings. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.
Petopia does not sell your personal information. We share only the information needed for the following services, when the relevant integration is enabled or used:
We require service providers processing app data on our behalf to protect it at least as described in this policy and use it only to provide their services, subject to applicable law and our agreements with them. Other services may process their own technical or network request information under their own policies. Providers may process information in countries other than your country of residence.
Petopia may request camera and photo-library permissions when you choose to add a pet photo. The current app version requests both permissions before either photo selection or camera capture. A selected photo is stored locally with the pet profile; Petopia does not upload it to a Petopia server. You can deny or change these permissions in your device's system settings, although the related photo feature may not work.
Petopia may request notification permission to schedule reminders. Reminders are created on your device. You can manage notification permission through your device settings.
Local pet and app data remains on your device until you delete it, reset the app, or remove the app, subject to any device backups. In the current version, Settings > Data & Privacy > Clear Local Data resets the main app database. Some app preferences and unfinished setup information stored separately may remain after this action.
Analytics and diagnostic information is retained according to the retention settings for the configured service and the provider's applicable terms. The app code does not set one fixed retention period for those service logs. Subscription and purchase records may be retained by Apple, Google, or RevenueCat under their own policies and legal obligations.
Because Petopia does not create user accounts or keep pet records on a Petopia server, there is no Petopia account or server-side pet profile to delete in the current app. You may contact us to ask about a privacy request concerning information handled by a service provider. If analytics data is not linked to an account, we may not be able to identify a particular event as yours.
Petopia is not intended for children under 13. The app does not provide child accounts. If you believe a child has sent us information directly by email, contact us so we can review the request.
We may update this policy when the app, its integrations, or applicable requirements change. We will update the date above and provide any additional notice required by law.
